Web Development in Oxfordshire

A website, an online shop or a system that runs part of your business online: we help you choose the platform, then build it. VOLL has been building websites since 2008, and today we work from Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds on web development for businesses in Oxford, across Oxfordshire and the rest of the UK. Describe your project, and we will come back with an honest view of the options, in person or online.

What We Build for Oxfordshire Businesses

Most projects for local firms are one of a few things: a company website, an online shop, an online booking system, a connection to the CRM you already use, or automating work your team now does by hand. The cards below take you to each type of build.

Prices and the development process are on our website development page.

Online shops

For shops in Oxford and across the county.

WordPress

We work as WordPress developers for businesses in Oxford and across the county, from a small business site to a custom theme and WooCommerce shop.

Other platforms

OpenCart for online shops; Joomla for sites already built on it, including a move to WordPress or Laravel.

Custom web applications

For booking systems, client portals and internal tools, with AI features where they help.

Mobile apps

For iPhone and Android from one codebase.

Integrations

With the systems you already use.

Your website connected to a booking tool, CRM, payments, till and stock, delivery services, databases and search across sources

Connecting Your Website to the Systems You Already Use

Local businesses rarely start from zero. There is already a booking tool, a till or stock system, a CRM or a courier, and the website has to work with them. We connect sites to CRMs, payment systems such as Stripe, delivery services and existing databases, including Windows-based ones, and build search across several sources at once. When a system has no API (a way for other software to talk to it), we build one first and then connect it.

We use the same skills for our own tools. VOLL Control Center pulls data from Google Analytics, Google Ads, Tag Manager and Search Console, manages the work with AI and builds dashboards; VOLL ERP runs our internal processes, with demos for five industries. We can show both on a call and build similar systems for clients.

WordPress, Shopify or a Custom Build

WordPress

WordPress suits sites built around content – services, articles, case studies – where a small team wants to edit pages itself.

Shopify

Shopify suits shops whose main job is the product catalogue and payments: stock, variants, checkout and delivery come ready, and the store grows with add-ons.

Custom build on Laravel

A custom application on Laravel is worth it when the business runs its own process online – bookings with special rules, quotes, a client portal – or wants AI features such as reports that pull data together or an assistant inside a business system.

For businesses with several websites, our own CMS-UP, built on Laravel, manages them all from one admin panel.

Working with Us in Oxfordshire

Our base is The Branch in Chipping Norton, and we build websites and web applications for businesses across Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds, from Oxford, Witney and Banbury to Cheltenham, Cirencester and Swindon.

The first conversation is about how your business works today: which systems you use, who will update the site and what it has to connect to. If you are looking for a web developer near you, we can have it at The Branch, at your office or on a video call. After that conversation we prepare an estimate, which takes 1-3 days.

Once the site is live, we can stay on to look after it as a separate paid service. Clients elsewhere in the UK work with us the same way, online.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose a web development company in Oxford?

Choose a team that builds on more than one platform and can show integrations it has done, so the platform is picked for your business. Ask who you will deal with day to day, and meet them if you can – you will find us at The Branch, 16 Market Place, Chipping Norton.

How much does a custom website cost for a small business?

A website for a small business costs from £1,750 with us; custom builds and web applications cost more, and our website development page shows the price for each type.

Can you rebuild our website on a different platform?

Yes, we can rebuild your site on the platform it already uses or move it to one that fits better, for example from an old Joomla site to WordPress.

What should we look for in an e-commerce developer in Oxford?

Ask to see online shops the team has built and try them on a phone, from the product page to the checkout. Check that they can connect the shop to your stock, payments and delivery, and that you will own the shop and its accounts. More on how we build shops is on our ecommerce development page.

WordPress or Shopify for a small online shop?

Shopify, if the shop is the whole business; WordPress with WooCommerce, if you sell some products alongside a content-rich site. More on Shopify builds is on our Shopify development page.

Describe in a few lines what you want to build or fix, and we will reply with the platform we would choose and why. After a short call we prepare an estimate within 1-3 days. If you are looking for a web developer in the Cotswolds or elsewhere in Oxfordshire, we can meet in Chipping Norton or talk online.
